This is one of the high points southeast of Clear Lake. It's in the same area as Brushy Sky High and Little Blue Ridge/Peak. Grizzled Peak or Grilled Peak is more like it. This once densely cover hill, easily accessible but not worth the effort due to thick high brush and almost zero views is now a barren charbroiled landscape. Sort of Daliesque. Now it's an easy brief walk up if you don't mind the ash covered remains of blacken manzanita. It was thoroughly swept over by the huge "Rocky Fire" in the early summer.
Thanks to the fire the mountain now has extensive views especially to the south and west. Mt. St. Helena, Cobb, Seigler, Hannah and Konocti are the main peaks. Higher Mendocino Nat. Forest peaks can be seen to the north like Goat Mtn. Snow Mtn. and St. John Mtn..
This is on private property but there is no one around and no signs so a quick ascent shouldn't be a problem. Your call.

About 5-600' gain, less than 2 miles round trip.

From the light at the junction with Hwy. 29 in Lower Lake take Morgan Valley Rd. east 10.2 miles to a small pass next to the peak which is obvious at right. Park off road.

Route

Go around the gate. Hike in a quarter mile or so and pick your route up through the burnt out west slope. I ventured on one ascent all the way around on the old road to a house on some property off to the right of the mountain with barking dog and called out by the owner. I don't recommend going that far it you want to remain incognito.

Recommend gloves and old clothes. It's a dirty mountain with ash on everything!
Nevertheless it is an interesting place to explore in a small dose like this.

It is private prop. but absolutely nothing on the mountain to indicate people have had anything to do with it for decades.
