After winning "Outside" magazine's Gear of the Year Award in 2002 for performance, the Brunton Optimus Nova Multi-Fuel Backpacking Stove is a stove designed for the backpacker and expedition climber in mind. This multi-fuel, expedition stove gives world-class performance in extreme conditions, and includes a durable, all-aluminum fuel-pump with no flimsy plastic parts. The unique, quick-priming Nova burner reduces the time it takes from initial start-up to full ignition, saving fuel and time. Further, superb flame control, even with diesel exists; the stove also operates on kerosene/paraffin, white gasoline/petrol, Coleman® fuel and similar fuel types. Turbine-shaped legs fan out from the burner, forming a stable support to cook on, and built-in cleaning needle clears the burner jet from the inside out allowing this self-cleaning stove to require little field maitenance. I have used this stove extensively over the past three years in rain, snow, and shine without a single problem. I have packed it in day packs for quick, hot meals on peakbagging trips, in my backpacking pack for extended trips, and have taken it hunting and fishing. It has performed day in and day out without need for repair. I could not recommend a stove more highly than this one.

This stove is great. I've used it in all conditions, including high altitude. Had no problems, (others report problems), above 19,000 ft. I don't know how well the jet cleaning device works, but it's never clogged on me. The bag it comes with doesn't fit the stove too well. it boils water fast. i love that it's multi fuel. Great, reliable light all purpose stove.

Definitly not a "expedition stove" as mountaineers expect it, regardless of the manufacturer's claim: if you follow the manufacturers instructions, there is no chance you could run this stove above 5000m. This stove was my nightmare on Aconcagua and I had to "re-engineer" it to be able to melt the snow I needed to survive.
If you already have one and still want to use it in high altitude feel free to contact me for "modification" ideas.
This was the first "poor sweedish product" I have ever bought.
