After a day off (did Kelso on Sun.) uncle Phil and I decided to go for it. Of course Phill's gas and snoring prevented me from getting any sleep. Hit the lot at 6:00 am. It took us two hours to get to the start of the climb (made a wrong turn). The snow started basically Crater lake so we cramponed up. The snow was very heavy wet and not very solid. Phil used poles the entire col. I started out with the mountain axe and about half way up added the spare tool.We did manage to see some faint prints from Nick (thanks dude) Saw a goat at 11,00ish in the chute area. Lots of wallowing I did manage to sink into a crevasse type hole at one point up to my waist. Really slow going. Got to the top of the Bell Cord at 1:00 P.M., took a break and headed up the West side to the ridge up to the top. Left my new unused rope at top of col. ops. Seriously exposed climb to summit. All covered in snow which probably much better than the standard loose rock. Summit was awesome, small and white. Great views. forgot to take pic. No reg.
The decent was the most fun part we decided to head for the garbage chute and glisaded pretty much the whole way. Got soaked but it was worth it!
About 11 hours later I was in the lot waiting for Uncle Phil as usual.
I gotta get phil's cam cause he had the only one.
I hope it gets colder for the next party.
Man we are old and slow.
