With a car you can reach the parking place below the dam of Goesskar lake (1670m). From there you take a narrow, for public traffic closed road to the Giessener Huette, 2215m. To the hut 1.5 hour. It`s good if you have with you a mountain bike with you!
Route Description
From the house in north direction by a marked path to the crossing and then you turn left to the Detmolder Grat. North it goes to the Steinerne Maennln. Then you walk on the marked path and before you come to the ridge you must always turn right on the crossings.
When you are on the ridge you walk on the stone path and then you are on the glacier. ( You can come to this point from the rout on Steinerne Maennln upon the glacier. -> Be carefule about the crevasse! )
When the glacier ends you finally climb to the summit over the steep rock wall. For some time is path very precipitious.
Usually you descend here and go up over Steinerne Maennln. ( Anyway when I go to the Hochalmspitze
I go in that direction.
Essential Gear
Ice rick, crampons, rope

Route CommentDid you describe the whole route? I haven't done it, but it is written that on the ridge there is also one harder passage (ferratta). I also thought, that it's more nice to go up the Detmolder grat (harder) and return by Steinerne Maennln (easier). Hm?

Route CommentI went up over the Steinerne Maennln and went down over the Detmolder grat. But when we were walking on the ridge from Steinerne Maennln, we ( me any my father) asked some climbers what about Detmolder grat. They said that this route is hard and very snowy already. So when we were on the top we decided that we descended over the Detmolder grat. The route is described up and when we came over the rock wall we went over the glacier and we were very fast!!!
