Overview

There are numerous ways to climb this mountain on skis.
Mountain also consists of two peaks separated. This page will be list the three possible variants on the side of Lombard Valfurva.
Two by Valley Cedec and one from the Valley Rosole. All routes that have as their starting point the Hotel of Forni (2178m).
The exposure to the north side of the Cevedale massif allows excellent snow conditions until the end of May.
The hotel of Forni is reachable by a paved road (open after Easter) from the village of Santa Caterina Valfurva.
Milan-Bormio-S.Caterina 225km.

The three routes will be listed separately and marked with the letters A, B, C.

Route "A" from ref.Casati

This ascent follow the original normal summer route.
From Hotel dei Forni follow the signs to the ref.Pizzini (2700m), reached by 1,30 hours along an easy path almost flat.
After the hut climb slopes quite steep towards the Passo Cevedale (Langenferner joch), where the ref.Casati (3263m)is placed (these slopes could be dangerous on the return during the hottest hours of the day).
From hut ski on the right direction along gently smooth slopes, pointing directly toward the top.
Below that, the climb is very steepy (useful knives). Upon reached the saddle between the two peaks, pointing right toward the main summit of 3769m.

Route "B" along the glacier Cedec

This is the ascent certainly most direct and most advisable.
However, it passes below many serracs. Be very careful in the case of high temperatures.
Sunday, May the 4th 2008, around 5 o'clock PM, the collapse of a serracs has caused an avalanche that swept across the slope where the route passes, and stopped a few hundred meters above the ref.Pizzini. Fortunately no one skier was in that area.

From the Hotel Forni follow the same route listed above until ref.Pizzini.
From the hut the summit is clearly visible, wherefrom a glacier not very crevassed, laps the northern side of Mount Pasquale.
Climb the medium steep slopes and be carefull to not stop under the huge seracs, and passing to their right.
Over and above them the slope becomes flat and it meets the route from ref.Casati where it has in common the final part.

Route "C" from Valle Rosole

This a route is quite unusual, because it needs to override the Colle Pasquale, and then loose 200m of altitude.
It's advisable only when skiers came from the area of the glacier Forni, and they want to avoid the long approach to the ref.Pizzini.
From the back of ref.Branca (2493m), get into the short Rosole Valley, remaining more or less at the center of it and pointing towards the carving between Monte Pasquale and Monte Cevedale. Very easy to reccognize (colle Pasquale 3431m).
The ascent is very steepy and in cases of very hard snow is advisable to climb it with axe and crampons.
Once you reach the hill, ski down for 200/250 meters, toward the glacier Cedec, trying to stay less as possible under the serracs placed below the Cevedale summit.
At this point, the route joins with the route from ref.Pizzini.
Follow the same route.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
