the last part of the west ridge was great, but cristo was just too much of a slog to do for climbing - but skiing down is pretty fun...

2nd CO 14er in the bag!
Went with 3 others - clouds came in and out, so did the sun. Wind pretty much stayed - sustained high winds (knocked me over a couple times!) and snow/ice made this class 1 quite challenging! Not bad for my 2nd CO 14er (3rd total). We had the summit to ourselves and even the sunshine peaked out! Not too many other hikers on this frigid day.

Quiet on the Mountain
Not a usual Quandary day. We saw won guy from Chicago returning from the summit and on the way out, 3 campers below tree line. Generally a nice day with a few instances of wind gusts and clouds, but abundant sun and calm. This would have been more enjoyable had I not flown in from sea level the night before! But we went slow and it was a successful hike with an old friend!

I have made two different attempts to climb this mountain in the winter, up the cristo couloir, each time, well has ended in a quandary. Any suggestions about dates for a good winter accent?

Great Views, escacped storm
Nice views on the summit. Not long after summiting we heard thunder over towards Bross and Lincoln. Never saw any lightning on the way down but heard thunder a lot.

Whiteout!!
East Ridge. Easy route, tough conditions. Swirling gusts, whiteout, deep snow, disappearing tracks, so fun. GPS came in handy.

My first one ever!
I unsuccessfully tried climbing Mt. Massive, another Colorado 14er, almost 2 years ago. The hike had to be abandoned due to inclement weather. After that I never gave hiking a 14er another thought, until a few weeks ago. A buddy of mine suggested we do Quandary together, I happily obliged as summiting a 14er has been on my "to do list" now for the past few years. Had a great climb, and the weather prevailed. No real issues, other than the socks I wore started rubbing my heel raw during the descent. 3 days later it's all I can think about and now want to climb another one this weekend. I was thinking Bierstadt.
The east ridge is always long and crowded, so you may want to try the west ridge for variety. The route is rocky and loose but was fun scrambling.

Beautiful
A beautiful hike. Had the trail to myself on the way up, not so much on the way down. Unfortunately, the summit had no visibility and very high winds when I was on top but still a great morning.

Great Hike
Goats everywhere and we even saw a band of intrepid adventurers who had just destroyed "The Ring" at the top of "Mt. Doom". The weather was clear all day and afternoon so t-shirts and pants were comfortable. Stopped in town at La Montana Linda for a post-climb mexican binge.
