Awesome watch!
This is an awesome watch/altimeter. It's easy to use, well desgined, comfortable and durable. Battery life is very good. I've had the watch for about 2 years now and love it. I take it on every single climbing trip.
The basic functions that I use the most are: time/date, compass, altimeter, altimeter alarm, multiple daily alarms. The altimeter/compass functions well as a lightweight backup for my GPS.

Get it.
This is better than previous wristwatch-type altimeters I have used. I have found it accurate and the barometric plot is a fantastic tool for watching the weather.
Switching between m & ft is a pain in the @ss, so memorize that function before you leave the house. And the compass (to the extent you would rely on it) needs occasional recalibrating (again, memorize that procedure).

total ascent?
I just bought this watch. This will be my fourth altimeter watch. I wanted a watch that can record total ascent, total descent and elapsed time and has a compass. Unfortunately I think I'm going to return the Vector. I've played around with it quite a bit including a fair amount of time reading the user manual. My issue: there seems to be no way to see your total ascent, total descent and elapsed time without stopping log recording.
To be a little clearer: when I start my hike/climb, I hit some button, then while I'm hiking I want to know how long I've been hiking, how much I've climbed, descended, etc. At the end of the hike I stop the event. With this watch, you have to stop the logging to see elapsed time, total ascent, etc. When you start the logging again, a new log is created with a fresh elapased time, ascent, etc. Some Suunto watch models let you look into the current log, not the Vector.
I'd appreciate it if anyone knows how to work around this.

Great!
This is a great piece of equipment. I have it for long time and it is still running with first batteries. It is very useful for climbing, skiing. I am mad a bit because a screen is a bit slipped.

Untitled Review
I've had this watch for 5 years, and it has withstood so much banging around that I am quite amazed with it. Just now has it received a small crack, therefore it's no longer waterproof. It was pretty accurate, yes it did have to be calibrated a lot, but that was pretty easy to do.

Durable
I've had my Vector for 6+ years and it is still working strong despite taking quite a beating. Still accurate unless there are serious weather changes going on - but that's the nature of barometer based altimeters. I have to replace the batteries about once a year, but that's easy to do.

Great simple well made
As its all been said here. I wont go on and on. Quite simply a great easy to use bit of kit. Glad I got one.

Great for what it was built to do
I have owned this watch for two years and usually only wear it when I climb. I find that, when I wear it, I tend to bang it on door jambs, walls, and railings. It is thicker than your average timepiece. That being said, in the mountains and hills this thing does what it's supposed to do. I find the altimeter fairly accurate for something that uses air pressure to measure altitude. The barometer has given me a heads up on weather change a couple of times. Bottom line - its does what it was made to do - use it, enjoy it, but know its limitations.

Great watch
This is an awesome piece of equipment with very few drawbacks. The altimeter is very accurate when recalibrated regularly. The compass is handy and easy to use with adjustable declination, but is still no substitute for a traditional field compass. I've had the watch for almost three years and have never had a problem with the waterproofness. I've also only had to replace the battery once so far.
The only real problem I've had is that about once a year the compass glitches and can only be recalibrated by removing the battery. Also, one of the pins holding it to the watch band broke and I have been unable to find a replacement anywhere. Suunto customer service is a joke, and REI doesn't carry any spare parts.
All in all a great watch though

great!
It is a great tool for any types of trips - skiing, hiking, biking, but the altimeter works only if properly calibrated at the beginning of the trip!
