The North Face Redpoint Jacket delivers warmth and weather protection in a highly compressible garment. Perfect for tossing in your pack during spring, summer and fall outings, just in case you need an extra layer. The Redpoint Jacket only weighs 17 ounces and it stuffs into its own pocket. You'll find the Heatshield insulation provides as much warmth as a fleece jacket and takes up much less room in your pack. Also comes in another version as the Optimus Redpoint Jacket which has a hood, detachable sleeves, and a double zipper.

Bottom Line: The North Face Redpoint Jacket is extremely light, breathable, water-repellent, and soft to the touch, providing lightweight protection from harsh elements.

Elastic bound flexible cuffs

Cinchcord at hem

Transforming sleeves (Optimus only)

Much lighter than my Denali Jacket, but just as warm, and compresses very small. I've saved 7 oz from my old fleece jacket.

Cons: The basic model jacket also needs a double zipper to accomodate a harness.

I absolutely love this jacket. I bought it at REI on sale one day and have not gone on a trip without it. It is the perfect insulating layer for backpacking, hiking, or mountaineering. Not only is it very warm but it's also light so I don't think twice about taking it on week long trips in the Sierras when weight is an issue.
