With the DCR-PC9, Sony achieved super compactness and no degradation in quality as the DCR-PC9 meets the demand of customers for an "All-In-One" and "Feature Rich" camcorder in a small package. The DCR-PC9 provides the same excellent digital picture quality that customers look for in a Sony Handycam. With the addition of the Progressive Shutter System, customers can capture great looking still pictures and store them through the built-in Memory Stick slot. Another new feature is the capability to capture video not only on the Mini DV tape but also on the Memory Stick as MPEG. I/O Terminals are also not a problem as there is no need to use adapters. There is even a USB terminal and IEEE 1394 interface built-in.

Pics are nice, but video is the only way to go. I took this to the top of the Grand and a couple of other hills. Very light and easy to use. I put a .45x wide angle lens on it with a 10 hr battery. The video picture is outstanding but the digital still quality is not that good. And the LCD screen is hard to see in bright sunshine (normal). All the Grand Teton pics were taken by it. Prices vary on the web. I got mine for $800 but I've seen up to $1400. This particular model has been discontinued by Sony but they are still available on the web. The newer similar models of Sony video/still camcorders have better still picture quality.
