Le massif du Schieferberg / The massive of the Schieferberg
Le massif du Schieferberg est situé au-dessus de la vallée de la Hasel et atteint une altitude maximale de 609 mètres. Il fait partie intégrante du plus grand massif du Nideck et du Schneeberg, qui lui, atteint une altitude maximale de 961 mètres, au niveau du célèbre rocher du Lottelfels. Un très sauvage vallon humide, ouvre l'accès à la superbe cascade du Nideck (alt. 480 m), ainsi qu'aux romantiques ruines médiévales du même nom (alt. 573 m). Ici, la roche est d'origine volcanique, avec du porphyre rouge. Depuis quelques années déjà, le vallon du Nideck est classé en tant que réserve biologique remarquable, avec en prime, les fabuleux rochers panoramiques du Hirschfels et du Schieferberg. Le panorama le plus remarquable de ce massif est à aller chercher au sommet de l'ultra sauvage Schieferberg, avec un face-à-face dantesque, à la fois sur le Schneeberg et le Rocher de Mutzig (qui est le point culminant des Vosges Gréseuses, avec ses 1010 mètres ! ).
The massive of the Schieferberg is located above the valley of the Hasel and is reaching a maximal altitude of 609 meters. He's a part of the big massive of the Nideck and the Schneeberg, which is reaching a maximal altitude of 961 meters, at the famous rock named as Lottelfels. A very wild and humid valley, is opening an access at the marvellous waterfall of Nideck (alt. 480 m), and equally, at the romantic medieval ruins of the same name (alt. 573 m). Here, the rock is having a volcanic origin, with a red porphyry. Since already several years, the valley of Nideck is protected, as a remarkable biological reserve, with in extras, the fabulous panoramic rocks of the Hirschfels and the Schieferberg. The most remarkable panorama in this massive is located at the summit of the very wild Schieferberg, with an atomical face-to-face, on the Schneeberg and the Rocher de Mutzig (which is the highest point of the Sandstone Vosges, with 1010 meters ! ).
