Mt. Baldy and Mt. Harwood Via Ski Hut Trail
On May 30, 2015, I -- along with hundreds of other Angelinos -- hiked to the summit of
Mt. Baldy, the highest mountain in the
San Gabriel Mountains, via the
Ski Hut/Baldy Bowl trail. I hiked down via the
Devil's Backbone trail. Despite being exhausted due to the high altitude (for me) and intense sun, I took the brief recommended side trip to the summit of
Mt. Harwood via a use trail from the saddle between the two mountains. From the Harwood summit, I took the scree slope back down to the Devil's Backbone trail, hiked the Backbone trail to Baldy's Notch, and then wimped out by taking the ski lift down. These are pictures from this trip.
