Approach
Take Flagstaff road up and over Flagstaff Mountain. Right before you leave the Boulder Mountain Parks the trail will be on the left. There is a parking area a short distance back, at the Long Canyon Trailhead. You may also be able to pull of the road and park closer to this trailhead. Please note, if you park on Flagstaff Road you must pay the $3 daily parking fee if your license plates are not registered in Boulder County.
Route Description
This route has the distiction of being the shortest path to the summit of Green Mountain.
From the trailhead on Flagstaff Road, follow the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail for 1.2 miles to the junction of the Ranger Trail on the left and the Green Bear trail on the right. Continue straight another .2 miles to the summit.
Distance to summit: 1.4 miles
Roundtrip (assuming descent of same route): 2.8 miles
Elevation gain: approx 600 ft
Essential Gear
This is a short day hike, and only requires typical day hiking gear. In the winter the trails may be icy, so instep crampons similar to the kind runners use may be helpful.
