It's unfortunate that the "Elisabetta" isn't more widely know (and used) as a basis for many hikes and climbs in the Combal basin. On the back to the hut, the Pyramid Calcaire area provides several enjoiable protected rock climbs on limestone (a rarity in a mainly granite area)
From La Visaille/Plan Lognan, 1670 m., pass the bridge and take the closed car road, that goes up gently for almost 3 km. until the panoramic Plan Combal, 1990 m. (1h - tiny bar/restaurant - a little deviations brings you in 5 minutes to the glacial Lac Miage).
Cross the bridge on the left (indications TMB) and walk another 2 kms on the almost perfectly horizontal dirt road (originally built in XVIII century as a military road. The Combal plain has seen its share of battles, including - according to some historian - the last stand of the local Celtic populations against the Roman invasion).
At the end of the plan, just follow the road up a couple of steep turns. The Elisabetta is on the right just below the Pyramides spur
