Overview

This is a nice warm up route on the back side (northwest side)of Quartz Mountain. It is a pure solo route with no bolts or natural protection. There are some thin flakes which appear like they would take a thin nut, but the flakes are extremely brittle and will not take pro. First ascent: James Hollingsworth

Getting There

Use the Getting There section on the main page to get to the kiosk on the east side of the parking lot. From there, head down the trail for a very short distance until seeing a trail marker/sign which says "Summit Trail" pointing left. Take the "Summit Trail" to the left and follow it around the west side of the mountain. Shortly after, you will get around the west side of the mountain where the formation and Devil's Slide appears. Follow the faint climber's trail to the base of the formation.

Route Description

This is a no-brainer. Follow the dark water streak directly up the formation. (90 ft.) You can opt to the right or the left, but the actual route follows the left-hand water streak. The descent to the right (red) is fourth class, but will take you directly back to the trail and beginning of the route. You can also descend to the left (green) which is third class. The third class descent takes somewhat longer to get back to your starting point.

Essential Gear

Sticky shoes, chalk, and maybe a helmet.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
