My girlfriend and I decided to head out to see south central Oregon, mainly Crater Lake. We took off for the weekend after college started to escape the pressures of a new school year. We left Salem, OR at 10:30 am and got to Crater Lake at 2:30 pm after a stop at REI for food and a stove. We started the hike at 3 pm under scattered cirrus clouds and reached the summit at 4:15 pm. We looked around and absorbed the beauty spanning from Mount McLoughlin in the south to the Three Sisters in the north. There was about fifteen hikers on the trail that we saw. It was Labor Day weekend so it maybe less crowded if you time the trip right. We returned to the car at 5:10 pm and headed out in search of a camping spot.
