Hiked to the actual summit once from Poway Lake, the paved road at the top along with all the radio towers convinced not to do it again. Been back many times for rock climbing though, did one of my first trad leads here. Robbin's crack is awesome, hope to lead it sometime soon.

West Approach from Blue Sky
I've come out here 4 or 5 times before on 67 and climbed up the service road on the East Side. Last week I decided to climb Woodson via the West route from the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. Great hike, brought my climbing shoes and did lots of bouldering and scrambling and bushwhacking to the top. These boulders are huge and endless, great place for all levels of climbers.

Great at Sunset
Started hiking this right around three in the afternoon! It was perfect timing to catch an amazing sunset! Since it was winter in San Diego skies were pretty clear and the boulders started glowing like gold! We hiked up the access road so not much of a trail but still a great experience!
Ran on the paved road to the summit (~ 25 min up). Did a couple of boulders.....one was a 5.4 crack with my sneakers on proved to be a bit of work.

Number 2
Climbed up Woodson after completing Iron Mtn with my dad earlier in the morning. Took the fire road up, summit boulder on the east side of the top seemed to be the highpoint. Was a few USGS markers in the rock so figured it to be true. Climbing the summit boulder was a nice climb after a fairly easy walk-up climb to the summit. Ran into a runner who was gassed/dehydrated from running up from Lake Poway. After I gave him an orange, granola bar and some water he seemed to come around. Be sure to hydrate!! Next time I think I'll hike up from the lake, seemed like a better route and no asphalt. Photos of My Woodson Mountain Trip
Woodson was a favorite conditioning hike (both up the road and up from the lake) and rock climbing destination while I was living in San Diego. Numerous trips, great memories!

Trail From Lake Poway
We hiked and/or ran up the trail from Lake Poway several times in the summer after work. I wish that I was still working in the area.

Backyard for me as well
Various routes on foot/bike, top roping and bouldering
Used this route for training and have been up this route 15-20 times. I always enjoyed sitting on top and watching people come up and kick the big log, symbolizing that they had made it.

Paved Road
Hiked to the summit with my 10yr-old from SR67. The highest rock is somewhat spicy class 3 - particularly for a 10yr-old. We climbed nearby Twin Peaks afterwards. Trip Report
In my infant climbing days, use to go here with a group of old people that didn't want to teach me to lead. Battle wounds from "Robbin's Crack" 5.9 still with me. :(
Hiked this with my youngest daughter on an overcast day. Most memorable part of the hike was coining the term "SPOG" which referred to the Stupid Piece Of Grass my daughter carried most of the way.
