You have the wrong peak. This one is Wheeler Peak, Nevada.

Beautiful
There's an excellent trail to the summit. Climbed alone in extremely high winds and very cold. Stayed maybe 10 minutes on the summit, hauled ass down to find a perfect day below...no winds below 11,000'.
The day before a late summer storm had come through and dropped a little snow on the peak. Not enough to really affect us, but the winds were still blowing the remnant clouds through, along with an occasional snow shower. It made for some gorgeous views.

Wheeler
This was my first time visiting Great Basin National Park. It is in the middle of nowhere, and I loved it! Melissa and I really enjoyed the hike to the summit of Wheeler Peak . There were a few snowfields (still lingering in July) that we had to avoid but nothing we could not handle. The views from the top were quite extraordinary. I really liked the area!

Crowded, for obvious reasons. But still gorgeous. Sat on the summit for 20 mins before everyone took off then had almost two hours up there to myself. Nevada is radical.

Clear, but very windy
The only thing more wicked than the talus was the wind, with 60-70 MPH gusts along the entire ridge. Lots of people going up on a Saturday, but few were making the short hop to the dropoff overlooking Jeff Davis and the rock glacier... that's where the best views were!

slow up and down
Smoky day, reduced visibility. Slow ascent on standard route (thanks to a lingering case of bronchitis). Lots of people on trail up and down.

A bucket list item. Started at 6:45A was back to the trailhead by 1:00P. Took a lot of pics and really enjoyed the views. Plan to do it again next year with kids and g-kids!

Cold
Cold and windy at the top. Started from the lower trailhead for that extra long summit hike. If I had gone up the day after the wind would have been 80+ MPH at the top
Got up in time to watch the sunrise from the top, had to use crampons for most of the ascent and an ice axe for the last 500 vertical.

Cold n' windy!
Windy and cold enough on the saddle to make the hike a bit challenging, lots of rime.

Bitter cold
Three hours and ten minutes via the standard route. Hoarfrost was everywhere from the saddle on up and visibility from start to summit was never more than fifty meters in any direction. It might have been a few degrees above zero but the wind chill was definitely below -10. After Wheeler I decided Bald Peak looked interesting and bagged that too, for just under a seven hour day.

Awesome Hike
Great Basin is a beautiful National Park and there's no better way to experience it than the hike up Wheeler Peak. Relatively easy hike that gets a little steep towards the end. Made it to the summit in 2:10 and descended in a little under 2 hrs.
Drove from Lamoille (after climbing Ruby Dome the day before) and got on the trail by 11:30. Up and back in five hours. Breezy. Even though it was a Friday, the trail had a couple of dozen people on it, most coming down from the peak. The campground was full (and noisy late into the night).

From Upper Lehman Creek Picnic Area
Even with snowshoes, there was lots of postholing from the start to the summer TH due to a recent storm. Above Stella Lake, we were able to ditch the snowshoes and move to crampons which was nice. We climbed the chute just east of the ridge that the summer trail follows. Weather was great and winds weren't too bad for February.
