Southeast Slope
Parked just off the road below a steep chute and hoofed straight up to summit, then continued on to Patterson. Pretty windy day with nothing to hide behind. Interesting terrain - "Mars with Flowers" although no flowers are out now. Super easy 6-mile hike and I did NOT enjoy the 8-mile drive!

Almost a drive up
Drove over to this peak after Patterson. Went to the highest point of the road and made the short hike. Very windy.

Close the Roads, Please!
At one time the roads to the summits (Patterson and Wheeler) were closed, but now every yahoo with an ATV or 4x4 can drive all over, including the fragile soil and vegetation on the summit ridges that are clearly marked as being closed to vehicles. It's a disgrace.

We needed chains to make it though to Lobdell but most of road from the lake to the summit was clear. We parked at Lobdell. We decended back to Lobdell by way of the creek and saved about 2 miles. Brush in the creek area is easy to weave through. Taking advantage of this strange dry Winter. Climbed Desert Creek peak the next day. Found a fairly brush friendly path on it also.

Via Boulder Flat w/Patterson
Drove the Tundra up to Belfort via Sweetwater ranch (4x4 only). Parked at dried pond and dayhiked the peaks. Saw no other hikers, just atvs and dirtbikes. Meh. But the rocks and terrain is out of this world, almost alien. Feels like mars or the moon.
