Nice photo

of Lake Tahoe with snowy mountains and looming clouds. I figure the forground clear of snow is south facing.
Happy climbing,

West facing

Actually, the foreground clear of snow is west facing. The west face of Mount Rose and Church Peak were basically bare; at least the rock. The summit plateau was bare of snow, except on the east slope. The prior two weeks before the hike, temperatures had been moderate during the day time, causing snowmelt. However, the week before the hike, temperatures started to drop and although no new snow fell, the existing snow stopped melting along the trail. It was hard taking in this view, as it was very cold and windy at the summit. 30-40 mph wind gusts, and temperatures that seemed to drop below 10 degrees F with the wind chill. It was 40 degrees F along the hike.
