Great Falls of the Potomac River as seen from Great Falls Park on the Virginian side of the river. After the river goes through this rocky area it enters Mather Gorge and then continues on to Washington, D.C. which it enters in about 10 miles. There had been a good, steady rain the week before this picture so the river was flowing fairly well. It looked sad a few months before when I came and there seemed to be very little flowing in it.
