Re: ?Thank you for your vote.
You are right that Hunza River is the central feature in this picture, and this peak is not more the three and half drive from Gilgit.
The River Hunza rises from a glacier north of the Karakoram range near Sust Khunjerab Pakistan and China Border . It flows southeast and cuts across the Karakoram range through a spectacular gorge. Downstream, the Hunza River follows a southwesterly direction in its middle course. This river is joined by small streams from Hunza and Nagar. Then it cuts across an offshoot of the Karakoram range and changes course to the southeast in its lower course merges with the Gilgit river which joins the Indus river at Bunji Gilgit.

Amazing! This looks like what a child would draw as an idealized picture of what rugged mountains should look like. So beautiful!!!

spooky...It is hard to imagine places like this even exist...what a blessing to be able to see this place in person. Terrific photo. Pakistan seems like the place to go to for stunning Mountains but I wonder if an American would be very welcome in such a place as this or any other for that matter.

Re: spooky...Thank you very much for your kind comments and vote, Pakistan is safe destination for tourists, as people of the country are very hospitable.
Being a responsible member of this sensitive industry, I should say that the current situation of Pakistan should not concern the tourist at all. Tourists need not to be afraid, as the unrest is limited to areas.
Kind Regards
Karrar

Thank you for the PhotoKarrar I made the first ascent in 1988. Due to my poor photography skills, the fact it was a winter ascent and we were using old 35mm means I don't have many photographs. Thank you for this shot its excellent. Peter
