Southern Picket traverse??Has anyone traversed those peaks in the background? If so, what difficulty & grade? Looks like a challenge! What is that rock like?

Re: Southern Picket traverse??Yes, Wayne Wallace, Colin Haley, and Mark Bunker did it 2 years ago. VI 5.10D. It took them 4 days I believe.
Rock is granitic, though nothing as good as the Stuart range.

Re: Southern Picket traverse??Specifically, rock is gneiss.
This is what Wiki says about 'gneiss':
"The word "gneiss" is from an old Saxon mining term that seems to have meant decayed, rotten, or possibly worthless material."
And this is what NW climbers say about gniess:
"Crap...mostly."
More info on the traverse (full enchainment) can be found here.

Re: Southern Picket traverse??Thanks for the links & info, guys. Aside from the bad rock part (& seemingly probable bad weather), seems like it would be quite a climb! Almost surprised Croft didn't beat them to it!
