The King of the Upper West Maroon Basin
A large buck sniffs curiously 50 feet from camp. Due to lack of suitable trees, I had to bury the food bag in that pile of rocks. After the buck departed, I put a few more rocks on the bag! He would return, though, to eat grass next to our tent all night long. Upper West Maroon Creek Basin, Maroon Bells - Snowmass Wilderness, August 2007.
