Thanks for the research!

Very nice page. I'm always interested in knowing how a peak got its name. Do you know why they chose this particular mountain to name after him? Had he climbed it?

Honestly, I'm not sure why this peak was selected. Shortly after I hiked this mountain and posted the picture now used as the profile shot, I was contacted by Dr. Spencer's family. Among other things, they informed me of their efforts to have the peak named for Dr. Spencer. They also kept me in the loop once the naming was approved/finalized.

I was rightfully impressed when I read about Dr. Spencer. He was an acomplished academic, loved by his family, and had a deep affection for the Rocky Mountains.
