"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Re: distance?Good idea. I updated the description. As for your question, it all depends on what you mean by beginner. If your beginner is in shape/athletic, then this will be a teaser hike; an easy, fun afternoon or morning but if your beginner is not in shape and not used to dusty, steep trails, then could kill the spirit of a potential hiker. I love this trail. Nothing technical, has parking, great views from the top but my wife would hate it. I took a buddy of mine backpacking a few years ago and we used this trail to access Desolation Valley and he hated it because he was out of shape and had a 40 +/- lb. pack.
Anyway, If you want to impress a beginner with a super easy hike, including a peak, try hiking Round Top from the pass.
Thanks, and good luck,
