Approach
The North Ridge is the easiest route to the summit, first climbed in 1966. To reach the peak, leave the Bubbs Creek Trail at its intersection with Charlotte Creek. There is a use trail that follows the north side of the creek, but the first several hundred yards of it were wiped out in some floods in the late 1990s. Climb up the slopes and look for the trail about 30 yards north of Charlotte Creek, and below the steep granite slopes on your left. The use trail does not go through the shrubs adjacent to the creek, so thrashing about in there will get you nowhere slowly. Once you find the trail, it's good for about a mile until you have climbed up towards the lower granite skirt of Charlotte Dome.
Route Description
The route is pretty straightforward - follow the far right side of the granite skirt around the east and northeast sides of Charlotte Dome. The climbing is never more than class 3 unless you wander to far to the left. Once on the northeast side, continue up steepening slabs heading in an arc to the North Ridge. Navigation is easier going up as you can choose a more direct line to the left if you don't mind the more difficult scrambling. If using this for a descent route, if you head down too quickly you can find yourself above cliffs. Once at North Ridge proper, it is a short class 3 walk over broken blocks to the summit.
