"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Alone on the summitI climbed up the NE-face from the saddle between Scharz- and Rotkogel. There was about 2meters of snow and no path visible so I chose my own route up. About 10 minutes before reaching the summit there was one steeper part where I used my snowboard to hold on to by putting it as deep in the snow as possible. Great lonely summit. I enjoyed the good weather & sun for an hour before I went down by snowboard; back to Solden to grab a beer with my friends.

NE routeI came from the Braunschweiger Hütte and hiked down the Rettenbachtal to Sölden, but not without a couple of detours - one of which was the Schwarzkogel. Although my map showed a trail going up the SE slopes, when I got there, the ski area didn't look attractive so I continued to the Rotkogelhütte. There I left my backpack in the care of the people at the hut and hiked up and down along the same way before having a nice meal.
