Probably should have turned around but we had just crested the summit ridge when we saw the first lightning strike and were faced with a lot of not-great choices being so far above treeline at that point. Waited for a break in the fronts and did manage to summit but it's not an experience I'd like to repeat again! Otherwise a beautiful hike, well-maintained trail all the way to West Pass. Trailhead is now about a half-mile up the road from where it used to be and is a bit confusing making sure you're on the right route at first...besides that, a straightforward 12+ mile 5k cllimb.

Ryan Peak
Great conditions after the rain on Tuesday. From West Pass continued up to the col before Ryan Peak vs. taking the sharp ridge from West Pass. Came down the sharp ridge and I would suggest going up to the north of the ridge vs. the very lose scree field on the ridge proper.

Smoky day
My dogs and I made it car to summit in 3 hours, but we travel faster than most. The smoke unfortunately limited the visibility to a few miles or so. I'll be back for the neighboring 11ers and hopefully will get to see the views then.

Standard Route
Nice climb on a beautiful fall day. Th standard south ridge route from West Pass had some loose rock, but not as bad as I'd expected. Fantastic views from the summit. Trip Report
Saw 4 goats on the way up. Took a slightly different approach and avoided the scree slog on the way up, then had fun scree skiing down on the West facing slope.

Nice Hike
I logged my summits on a spreadsheet but a few I never logged the date. I have "summer 2001" down for this, so admittedly have guessed the rest. Started out sunny, but clouded over as we neared the saddle. It didn't look threatening so we continued on. Climbed with a girlfriend from Hailey.

Nice
Was more intrigued by rock towers on surrounding ridges, but good high peak.

Great hike except for hiking up the scree section (2 steps up, slide 1 down). Amazing views from the summit, unfortunately I had the worst case of altitude sickness I've ever had and wasn't too happy at the time. After dropping a couple hundred feet, I felt better and had a really fun time jumping down the scree.

This is an interesting mountain to climb. The approach is long and steep and you do not get a view of the summit for almost the entire climb. The views, especially once you reach West Pass, are stunning. You see steep faces (Kent), sweeping views (West Pass), distant peaks (Glassford) in virtually every direction you look. The drawback to any climb in the Boulders is, of course, the looseness of the rock. Scrambling on this scree is unpleasant. Descending, on the other hand, can be a blast.
