Re: WildernessYes but this is no more a good shelter, a new one, very near, has been built 10/11 years ago and fortunately is not a fist in the eye like some recently built huts.

Re: IsI think that being this shelter built in the first half of the last century, the major part of the material used was carried there by mules but the larger stones should be pieces adapted from the native ones with some work in place.
This is what I know from a conversation about the argument that I heard years ago, but I am not an expert.
This little hut has not been detsroyed by an avalanche, it simply fell in disuse, without maintenance.
I hope the knew one will not end the same way, but providing a restore service during summer maybe it will be more lucky!

Interesting information ...The "Corno Bianco" area sounds facinating!
I know there's a lot of folklore, but you
say it was the early 1800s when this
"ruined hut of Rissuolo" was constructed? In those early
days, what was it used for ... its purpose?
This is along a normal trade route? You
also mentioned vipers? What kind of vipers?
Are they "cobras" that live here??? Grazie.

Re: Interesting information ...I couldn't find the exact date, but it should be early '900.
It was built like a support along the "easiest" route to Corno Bianco.
Not so much easy to speak the truth, more than 2000 meters of elevation to gain and some rock climbing on wet rocks(now there is an helping chain on the hardest passage).
On the flanks of Corno Bianco, especially on this side, it's easy to meet a type of viper very common in this area: the "marasso", that can reach 23 inches of lenght and is poisonous but rarely lethal:

You can recognize it from the other kind of vipers in the Alps for the design on its back.
