"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

afternoon hikeI dawdled coming up Beartooth Pass so I got a 140 PM start. Three hours and ten minutes starting from the parking lot just north of the bridge. Some pea gravel and class 2 on the final summit climb from Republic Pass but otherwise a pleasant woodland hike. The first mile or so is up an old mining road that has a few homes at the end.

Clear dayClimbed on a clear autumn day with Shelley, who elected not to make the final climb up the peak from Republic Pass, where she waited in a sleeping bag while I made the short ascent. It felt really good to dump the 50+ pound multi-day pack at Republic Pass while I summited.
