it's an asterBut it'd probably take an expert and a good shot of the whole plant to get much more specific than that.

Re: it's an asterIt could be an aster. But with the number and narrowness of the petals (actually these are bracts in this family), I would suspect a wild daisey from the genus Erigeron. We would have to see the vegetative bracts on the back of the flower to be sure. Which ever it is, we can't identify it further without a better look.
