Description

A mountaineers delight along the John Muir Trail. Start at South Lake near Bishop, CA and finish at whitney portal. Take 10-14 days and climb 6 14er's along the way. Total mileage would be about 60-70. I would like to ascend over bishop pass and set a base camp on the back of the palisades and climb Thunderbolt, Starlight, and N Palisade. We can do it as two days of climbing or try and make a monster ridge route and do all three in a long day. After that the next peak would be Split Mountain, then Williamson, and finally Mt Russell. If you want we can do Whitney too but I've already done it. Then descend to Whitney Portal. Hoping to stick to class 3-5 routes for ascents just so we can keep weight low. Thunderbolt is harder but just a few peices or extra sling is enought for the final 3o ft of 5.8 climbing.

I am also open to doing 2 separate trips, one to the palisades and then another doing spilt down to russell.

I might have the second half of August through Labor Day free. I'd be up for doing some variant of this.
