Description

I moved to Bethesda on February 2nd. I currently do not have a car, but I am more than willing to pay in gas and/or beer. Most of my experience centers on hiking/backpacking;however, I would love to delve more into climbing. I have led single pitch sport and followed multi-pitched trad and sport.
Free mostly on the weekends or after work. Although I would prefer to go hike or climb, I really love anything outdoors, and I am interested in biking, and kayaking as well.

IndayWelcome to the area!

If hiking is your thing, MD is pretty good. We've got the Appalachian Trail (the MD portion is 40 miles) and then plenty state parks (Patapsco State Park has great hiking/running/biking trails). The AT is your best bet for multi-day efforts within MD, but Virgina and West Virgina have plenty more.

As to climbing, in Rockville (a few miles north of Bethesda) Earth Treks has one of the nation's best climbing gyms. Located at 725 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD, we have 16,000 sq feet of climbing walls, 40 ft tall walls, and over 100 top rope set ups with lead climbs mixed throughout. I work there and regularly climb.

For outdoor climbing, Great Falls has some reasonable top roping, all about 15 minutes from Bethesda!

Msg me if you want to arrange some climbing at ET or something!

Mike SwizWelcome

I work in Bethesda but live further north. I'm always up for hiking or climbing trips (just getting into climbing though). Hit me up if you want to schedule something.

mueller22031High Points this Spring

I am exploring visiting all the high points in PA, MD, WV, VA, KY, TN in the spring. I figure on day for PA, MD, WV and 2 days for VA, KY, TN. I also need to do all the New England Peaks and have a friend that might be interested in doing some but not all of them. If you think you might be interested let me know. We can compare schedules and see what works for the both of us. I live in McLean close to Chain Bridge.

Regards,
Reid
