NeatCalifornia has some sugar pine cones that are really really big. That pine cone you are holding,is humongous. Where was this picture taken?

Sugar Pine in CA!This was taken near the juncture on the PCT/Mt. Waterman trails in the San Gabriel Wilderness near LA. I was amazed at the size of these cones. I have developed a real affection for pines since spending time outside in CA. Thanks for the kind comment Dean.

Coulter Pine?These are supposed to be the largest of Pine cones & kinda fat too and less enlongated than white pines cones.
