"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Finally did it!First attempt in June 2012 I errr... climbed the wrong mountain! Floating on iTunes and golden early morning sunlight I walked straight past the climb, fixated on a plausible looking 'Thor's Cave' in neighboring mountain - and I climbed a very plausible although probably Grade 2 route ending on top of Scafell, from where I realised my error and climbed (via Broad End, un-roped - aargh!) to the top of the Pike...
In April 2014 I identified the route correctly but picked Ill Crags SE face as preferable to solo...
2nd attempt rained off - big time - with my son Keith (didn't even see the route).
3rd attempt, also with son Keith weather dubious - and having left late in hope of route drying out, we found it hadn't and walked to the top of Scafell Pike instead, via Little Narrowcove.
4th attempt a couple of weeks later with old climbing partner from 1980's Jon, I finally got to climb the route - and write it up as a route page for SP, to join the Ill Crags scramble route - another worthwhile Grade 3 scramble.
