Bombpack (Classic)

One of the best and most versatile medium-sized packs, period. The suspension is one of the most comfortable and easily adjustable. For the shoulder straps, it's easy to adjust both the height as well as the width where they attach to the pack on top. I've taken this up Shasta, Adams, Round Top's Crescent Moon Couloir, Half Dome, and many other places without any complaint. I've used this to carry my sleeping bag, pad, SD Clip Flashlight Tent (inside for overnighters!), trekking poles, ice axes, MSR Denali snowshoes, shovel, crampons, helmet, etc. Friends of mine have used this to carry rope and racks for approach hikes. This pack's suspension is always comfortable and you can lash just about anything to it conveniently.

The best thing about this pack (and should be the best thing about any pack) is it's suspension. Most of the time I don't even feel it on my back, even when I'm carrying all kinds of technical gear. This is unlike the TNF Patrol Packs if I'm carrying any significant load where with just about every step, I'm thinking about how my shoulders are feeling....

I bought this pack back in the early 90's and have used it for ...I am getting old 10 years. When going for more than a summer day hike this bag fits the bill up to about a day or two (though I have used it for a 4 day 3 nighter but it was overloaded and not comfortable for this). This bag isn't flashy and doesn't have any trick pockets but is high quality and offers excellent comfort carrying loads. The shovel pocket is cool.



Not much else to say - it is a nice bag! I would try to get an older one though. I don't think the new ones are as nice.

I have had this pack since the early 90's. Used it for year round mountaineering trips. Top loads, plenty of room for gear, ropes, axe, pickets. Straps are logically located and work well for load balancing and stowing gear.
