feline poop

Big felines will often poop in obvious places, as a way of marking territory. Mountain lion scat is often in the open.

....And this one clearly didn't want competition from us.

Great trip report

I can't wait to do Elkhorn when the snow clears up a bit. Sounds like 3 days is about the right length... Great to see stuff on Vancouver Island up.

Re: Great trip report

Thanks. Some do it in 2. Some even day-trip it! Three days is about right for us old guys though.

Hope you get your ice axe back. (Saw your post on the ACC list server).

Cheers,

Martin

Re: Great trip report

Haha, yeah, unfortunately it is on a fairly infrequently travelled area. If I go up to Arrowsmith again this season I will try to follow our route. We descended in dark though so I am not totally sure where we went...

very nice

Very nice report. Mountain lions do make for good stories! At least you didn't seem the lion while crouching, that would have been interesting.

Well done, ol' boy!

Great report, & thanks for posting! Now I know enough not to bother with this one... King's Peak was brutal enough for me...

Re: Well done, ol' boy!

Many thanks for reading my TR.

Yes - if you found Kings hard I wouldn't gravitate to Elkhorn just yet. What about Albert Edward? Not as steep as Kings but more map distance involved. Or Myra? Or the Glacier? Lots of possibilities for challenge without killing yourself with the effort.

Cheers,

Martin
