This trip started out for me as a quick first peak for an inexperienced friend. I really enjoyed my trip through the snowgrass flats though, and that was as much fun as seeing my friend's grin on the summit.
If you can spare the time, plan for a 2 days near the summit to maximize your chances of getting clear skies east of the ridge. The view is worth it.
Good page. You could improve it by adding a little history of the peak and its climbing....and by adding some route descriptions. You can help folks going there by putting in a weather link. You could even make it www.weather.com if you know the zip code that covers that area. Your Photos are great!! Really hard to beat.....Now you have been up on that peak, successfully. You might expand on your summit log entry and include it also as a Trip Report !!!! You have done a wonderful job organizing the material, here. It will help anyone that is pointed at the Peak. Thank you for Sharing you Knowledge and Experience. You are helping to make everyone's trip both Safer and more Enjoyable !!!!!!!
I would like to know why you wouldn't have a page for each peak? They are both named on the USGS maps and have their own distinct elevations listed therein as well.
You have put Old Snowy Mountain in proper perspective. It is a worthwhile side trip for backpackers in the Snowgrass Flats area.
It is good of you to have adopted this page.

Untitled CommentNice little page for a peak that most likely will not see much action.
The info is great, especially the stuff about the snowpack which many people forget about when travelling to the area in the spring.
Really does sound like a great winter snow climb??

Why don't...you post an Old Snowy-Ives Peak primary image instead of that one of Mount Adams?
Gracias

Re: why one page for two peaks?Good point. I have just adopted this page and changed it to exclude Ives Peak. Later today I'll make a new Ives Peak page.
