Rowdy Day
Mega day on Notch with Ryan! Linked Western Hardman on the Lower North Face (previously climbed 2 years prior) to Book of Saturday. B o S is full on, very serious, but we onsighted! Some jabroni was shooting a gun off the summit while we were on the upper pitches. We had planted a car at the regular trailhead to avoid rapping down Book of Saturday, which worked great. Such a great feeling to top out knowing it's a chill trail for a descent. 15.5 hours total for the outing. 4 hours on Western Hardman, 6 hours on Book of Saturday. Woohoo!

Summit 1!
Just joined summit.org with the mission to log as much as possible this summer. This was a great kick off - took the pup (beware, it is rocky most of the time and it was a bit rough on his paws - so be sure you've either had them on rough surfaces since winter snow or have them wear boots). He was a trooper though. Canyon part was beautiful, not too sunny until you climb out of it and then drops away to a gorgeous view.

Notch Peak
My wife and I hiked this with perfect weather. We got a little off the main route on the way up (we exited the ravine and went for the ridge, when we should have stayed in the ravine) but we made it. The cliff face is so huge. It made us dizzy/queasy looking off the edge. This is a really cool peak/hike in pretty much the middle of nowhere!

Massive Cliffs
Fantastic day hiking with friends. We slept at the trailhead where we got snowed on at night and then went up in the morning. It was a beautiful day and the views from the top were amazing. it's crazy looking 2000 feet straight down. We also saw some wingsuiters jump off the top. Those guys are insane!

Incredible views!
Just a spectacular hike. Peering down into the canyon below from the edge of the cliff face was exhilarating!
One of my favorite mountains. I have climbed the mountain in October 1983, April 1997, and November 1999, via various routes (Sawtooth Canyon, ridge north of Sawtooth Canyon, and the North Ridge.

Awesome Area!
What an amazing peak! The weather was terrible everywhere else but we had a great day on Notch. The cliff is terrifying and the Bristlecones are inspiring!

Lots of wash-bottom snow
#1 02-07-15 Six to sixteen inches of snow nearly every bit of the way in the canyon trail made for a tiring but satisfying winter ascent of this terrific destination. #2 05-07-24 W/Lana Overnight snows put down a hit-and-miss carpet of 1"-2" of snow in the gully trail. We got pushed out of the gully once and made the mistake of following cairns up someone's trail when we should have maneuvered as soon as humanly possible to get back down into the gully. That cost us 35-45 minutes of negotiating slippery snow-covered rocks until we came to our senses and found a way back down into the gully. From there it was smooth sailing with patches of blown snow here and there up to the saddle. This is a wonderful hike full of variety and desert beauty. 7+05 r/t including the trail deviation. This was peak #27 in my 80in80 project.

Where's my wing suit?
Amazing rock cliffs. I've never seen rocks twist like that. Is it really the second tallest cliff in North America? Hmm.

Not A Soul in The House
Spent my 30th birthday camped up here in the silence of this Great Basin sky island. Years ago, I contemplated suicide from the base jumpers ledge, but today I made this a place of peace and joy and turned my back, symbolically, on those thoughts forever.

Via Sawtooth Canyon
Great hike through a beautiful canyon with RB and AKB, up to the saddle with a view down sheer cliffs on the other side, and quick ascent to the summit. Amazing weather and views of Utah's western desert and Lake Sevier. Coyotes howling in the early morning while camping near the trailhead. Solitude and a spectacular canyon and mountain. What could be better!

4/17/2016 Again from Sawtooth Canyon. This is one that is definitely worth repeating. Hiked up with my dad (Jeff Grant), Donovan Lynch, and Ben Stokes.
4/24/2014 From Sawtooth Canyon. One of the better desert hikes I have ever done. Fantastic hike. We spent a whole day in the House Range and did Swasey first and then Notch. 13 hour day when factoring the driving time from SL.
