Back into hiking season...
Finally put away the skis and am back on the hiking trail! Summited late in the day after a day off of work- was with Hokiejim and Shknbake. Great views of the Springs!
Finally had enough time to visit the south summit this time. It's a short traverse with some fine scrambling if you're OK with exposure, probably class 3+. Muscoco is a fine after work hike.
Nice after-worker from the Mt Cutler TH, beautiful clear April evening

Mt Cutler TH
My wife and I climbed this one while staying at the Cliffhouse in Manitou Springs. The snow was icy in places but it was well worth the effort. And we had the summit to ourselves.

from the west
Dropped off Gold Camp Road where it turns south, and followed the surprisingly clear trail over Daniels Pass before heading up the west slopes.

Beautiful Day With My Fiance

Mt. Cutler icy route
Great hike with awesome views but a snowy and icy trail, at least in late March.
cftbq - Feb 17, 2008 7:09 pm Date Climbed: Feb 17, 2008
Std. route, unstd. conditions
I started at the Starsmore house parking lot, running the short section of road necessary to reach the Cutler trailhead. After leaving the Cutler trail at the saddle, I plowed through two to four inches of new snow all the way to the summit, with occasional light snow falling. Not very cold, no real wind; hit Cutler on the way back.

Via Mount Cutler Trail
Fantastic day. We had the trail all to ourselves, which amazed me, since this mountain is so close to town. Look to the west and see the great outdoors. Look to the east and see the city of Colorado Springs humming along. There is still quite a bit of snow on the north-facing sections of the route - enough to gater-up and kick some steps. We enjoyed lunch/snack on the summit, then headed down. Hiking partner: Deb

easy, short, and sweet
Mt. Cutler trailhead, up to the ridge to muscoco. There was quite a bit of snow so i had to pretty much forge my own trail up the east face. Awesome broad summit, stayed a while and enjoyed the view and even took a phone call. RT 2 hours

East slopes
I left the trail at the last saddle east of the summit, and bushwhacked up the slope and into the gully between the prominent rock face on the northeast side and the true summit, then down the trail. Ran with the dogs. A nice change of pace, slower but doable.

Walking the Dog
Nice trip with the dog. Brought the camera and got some great pics. A nice leisurely 1.5 hour hike.
No foolin'! Ran up the caƱon and then the Mt. Cutler trail to the saddle. After summitting Muscoco, I dropped off the west side to Daniels Pass and climbed to Gold Camp Road, which I followed back to the top of the Columbine Trail, then down the trail to finish. About 10 miles, 2,200 ft., just under 3 hours. Fair spring weather.

Snow adventure
Ran up from 6,200 ft. after a light snowfall. Saw one other set of fresh prints preceding mine. 48 min. up, 37 down, with 15 minutes spent detouring out to the eastern rock face.
