Traverse from Mt. Hopkins  Sucess!

Day hike while camping in the Pioneer Basin. There were some tricky bumps on the ridge between "Robber Baron" and Crocker but the climbing was straightforward and very fun Class 3 after dropping to Crocker Col. We tried to descend via the East Ridge and could not find even a Class 4 route around the big step, though we likely missed it as it's probably harder to see from above than below. So we backtracked and came down Crocker Col, which was easy but annoying with huge talus blocks. Oh, for some snow!

Summit register had fallen deeply into a crack and could not be retrieved.

North Chute to West Ridge  Sucess!

Splendid scrambling to chute and along ridge, sure didn't care for the steep loose scree in the upper section of the chute though. Terrific peak for viewing the colorful Convict area and pointy Rock Creek peaks.

Crocker Loop  Sucess!

Fun day hike up past Steelhead Lake to Stanford Col, and then up the East Ridge. Returned via the West Ridge, past Crocker Lake and back down McGee Canyon. Nice ridge traverse on a beautiful mountain. I am surprised this doesn't get climbed more often.

West Ridge-Hopkins Pass  Sucess!

From Big McGee lake,to awesome Hopkins Pass Trail, along the Sierra Crest to the top, got beat up by 60+mph winds. Cool bivy cave on the SW of the false summit.

East Ridge  Sucess!

This was a fun class 3 scramble from Pioneer Basin. There is some lose stuff but it is avoidable. Recommended.
