"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Mt CatherineThanks to the light snowpack, I was able to get within spitting distance of the trailhead. Unfortunately, cloudy weather blocked most of the views.

CathyEasy hike. Trail in great shape. A few small snowpatches near the top. Great views and purple flowers in the summit rocks. Access road could use a grader pass.

First snow of the seasonTrail is in good shape with a light layer of packed snow. No extra traction required but I do recommend a pair of poles. No view of Rainier from summit due to clouds.

Short strollTrail is in good shape; road is less so but was manageable in our Outback. YMMV
Short, not terribly steep, visibility low all day. It is June in the PNW.

Snowshoe via Nordic Pass TrailHiked up in the dark via the recently re-diamonded Nordic Pass Trail. I was surprised how good the views are from the summit! I suppose a killer sunrise helps with the views, but it was spectacular! I have a feeling I'll be back. Trip report here.

Great summitNice easy, short hike - but actually very enjoyable. Rocky summit perch makes for panoramic views, and a cool little place to hang out and soak it all in.

Easy & StraightforwardMy second hiking trip of the morning (after nearby Tinkham Peak). This hike was short and easy, and I was able to make great time during both the ascent and descent.

WowThe directions to get to the TH aren't very clear, once you've been there it's obvious. The trail was F'D up severely, with a large portion of it underneath MASSIVE blowdowns. It was easy to lose it on the way up, but easy to follow on the way down. I have no idea if it's been cleared yet. The views from the top were awesome.

Hot DayFor years I have stared at this peak while driving over the pass. Today I decided to stop and try it out.

Mt Catherine in a little snowHard to believe it took me this long to make it up here. A very short 3 mile round trip. A little icy on the last part to the summit. Microspikes were helpful.
