Niece & Nephew
This was my niece and nephew's first 14er. Sophia is 8 and Kyler is 10 and they did great, no complaints and a lot of smiles. My wife Cinda and I, along with the kid's parents, Hege and Craig, had a nice morning's walk to the summit from Four Mile Creek.

Sherman from Fourmile Creek
Left the car at 11,200 or so and made the summit in 2.5 hrs. Had the top to ourselves around 7am with a cold Dales Pale.

One more down
Tried to get my dad to summit on this one but he turned back at around 13K'. Went to the top then ran up Sheridan before the weather moved in.

A Nice Short Climb
Fifth fourteener. Went from the Iowa Gulch trailhead...not too crowded until the trail merged with Fourmile Creek. Enjoyable hike, but was just as busy as Saturday trips to Bierstadt and Quandary.
Second time up Sherman. Climbed via Sheridan en route to Gemini, almost went up Dyer too (would've been ascent #2 on that) but decided to call it a day.
Climbed with my 12 year old son for his second 14er. It was my second time on top of Sherman after climbing it in early season snow last fall. Went and tagged Mt. Sheridan while JP waited for me in the saddle below.
An Elk bugled when I stepped onto the trail in the morning. An elk bugled in the afternoon when I stepped off the trail and back onto the road. Never saw anyone that day; just heard the elk. Thanks.

Snow on Sherman
(See trip report) Had strong winds and snow move in and it made the hike a lot more eventful. Watching the weather was incredible! The winds almost blew me off the ridge.

Iowa Gulch
Lame in every way. Did this one on tired legs from the previous day's Tour de Massive. The winds were probably gusting to 60 mph making it difficult to stand up let alone walk. Not a fun hike, more of a mission to not be defeated by the wind.

Iowa Gulch TH Ascend West Slopes
Pretty nice hike especially through the wild flowers near the trail head. We met a bunch of boy scouts - whining on the way up, having fun on the way down - being encouraged by their leaders, who, I might add, were doing the "real" suffering!

Winds were blowing hard and that made it slightly harder, but it wasn't too bad. We had an awesome glissade on the large snowfield between Mount Sherman and Mount Sheridan.

Ooooooooooooooooooh the scree! This is indeed scree territory so watch out for twisting ankles. RMdaytripsgrl is correct when she said that Sherman "is completely destroyed by old mining activity." My friend couldn't help himself so he took a dump in one of the mining shacks. Grosss!!
Best thing to see on the summit ridge is Mount Sheridan. At the time of our 4th of July climb, Sheridan has a "$" sign on its slope and I snapped a pic :) I really looked like a dollar sign!
