Scenic and snowcovered
Last minute trip made very scenic with all the snow on top, just went in regular hiking boots. Was my 9th CA county HP and the last one I did inadvertently before I started going for them intentionally.

Great Snow!
Started at 6AM. The snow was great but became increasingly slushy as the sun came out. Straight up the bowl and on to the summit with no problems. Summited 11:15AM. Pulled off a seated glissade all the way back down the bowl in about 10 minutes. Back to the car at 1PM. Great day.

Great Weather, Great Climb
Left Manker Flats parking area at 6:00 am and headed up the Ski Hut Trail. Only saw one person on the trail until I got to the Ski Hut at 7:30 am. Took the southwest ridge (the actual ski hut trail) and hit the summit at 9:00 am. Back down to Manker Flats at 11:00 am. Perfect weather!

And yet one more time
Climbed one of the chutes in the bowl with a group of good friends that "forjan" put together. Some went up the main trail and some up the bowl. We came down the devil's backbone. Bypassed the "crux" by climbing up to the ridge proper of the backbone then descending the ridge all the way. Very hard snow conditions in the upper bowl. All in all a great day in the mountains with great friends!

One more time
Climbed up Register Ridge then on to the summit of Baldy. Came down the Ski Hut trail. Icy near the top. Perfect weather. Had the summit to myself.
We tried to descend the Baldy Bowl trail after coming up the other way and got a little off track. I think we got distracted by plane crash wreckage (or something resembling it). So we just went cross country back to the highway and hiked 1/4 mile back up to the car. All in all, a fun adventure.
First time up via Bear Canyon, down by the lift. Hitched back to cars. Great day.

Windy (and Cold) Day
Took the ski lift up to the Notch at around 9:30 AM. Reached the top at 12 and went over to West Baldy for some open space (all the wind-breaks on the summit were taken). It was the windiest I've seen on the mountain. The wind made the cold quite a bit worse. Left the summit at 12:45 PM and reached the Notch at 1:50 PM. Left the Notch on the lifts at aroun 3:00 PM (after a big group of 31 went down). Now that was one COLD ride coming down with the freezing winds!

Fabulous
Since I see this mountain everyday, I knew I had to climb it. Hiked via the Devil's Backbone. Great views from the top stretching all the way to the Channel Islands. Beautiful wind-stunted trees along the way. Loved the hike!

Baldy the first time.....the Hard Way
Decided to climb Baldy from the North Backbone via Wrightwood - quite the butt-kicker. Ascended Wright, Pine, and Dawson along the way and did it all in reverse too. But it was a rewarding day in the mountains all the same!
Reclimbed via the Bowl and down via the Backbone on August 18, 2012. Clouds blowing over the top kept things cool, a very neat experience.

Baldy Bowl! The Baldy Bowl was a fun route. Whiteout conditions pretty much the whole day. Crampons and ice axe still needed past the ski hut.
