Thanks! Unfortunately, I was unable to get any good vista shots due to the really thick cloud cover that hung over the Smokies from about 5K feet on up.
Thanks. Now that I'm older, and my son is entering his late teens, I can hit the trails much more often. This has been the busiest hiking year of my life. Seems I'm off on a mountain somewhere in a five-state region (TN, NC, SC, VA, WV), either day-hiking or backpacking every single week since last April or so.
There are a whole stack of big peaks that I want to bag in the coming months. I only do summitposts for peaks that I've summited and for which I have good photos (although Kephart stretched the limits of my "good" photos--damned mist). I hit a couple of other peaks this past week, but the photos I got were like looking through gauze, so I won't do summitposts until I can go back and get good pictures.

Means I'll have to go back!

I wish I'd been able to get some long view photos, but the cloud cover was just too thick. I'll go back and try again in a few months.

Untitled CommentHey Bob, I'm glad you are really making such good progress on the southern Appalachians!

Untitled CommentAnother good page of yours. Too bad for the misty weather, but some pictures came out well in spite of that. Thanks for posting.

Yes, there are some amazing views from Kephart. It was disappointing to get socked in like that. The day before, it had been absolutely clear.
