Emma Stones
I went up the southwest slopes on my way back from Peak 10727, then down the northeast slopes from the summit. Lots of talus.

Postholing
Stopped by a little snow on the road before Stockade Flat. Quick trip up the NE ridge/slope-ish.
Lots of snow-drifts, bushwhacking, and unstable talus.

Mt Emma from Emma Lake
Followed thetrail up to Emma Lake and then scrambled around the northeast side of the lake to the long chute up to the summit. Lots of loose scree/rock made it tedious so I downclimbed the northeast slope only to find more loose rock and unsteady footing. Interesting out of the way setting, but not a climb I would repeat.

From Peak 10,727ft

Past Emma Lk via the Saddle
My 3rd peak after injury.
We started from Burt Canyon TH. Went cross-country to Stockade Flat and followed the trail to Emma Lake. Then Went cross-country to reach the saddle and headed up to the summit from there.
Had the entire place/lake/peak to ourselves the entire day... almost, until on the way back to the TH - We encountered one hunter.

Northeast Slopes from Stockdale Flats
We spent the night at a nice spot just short of roads end. Patchy snow followed by continuous snow through the forested area of the northeast slope made the hike up interesting. I stayed on the outside (west) edge of the forest for a dry route down. In hindsight, going up the dry route and down the snow route probably would have been faster, more fun, and easier on the feet. The wildflowers that are just starting to sprout up from the ground ought to be a nice display this June. Someone left a humorous treat in a jar near the summit register, but it was looking old and dry in 2012.
