Rock Route to standard  Sucess!

This seemed easier than going around through North or South Notch -- maybe I'm wrong. The crux was probably the traverse from near Clyde to just below Eichorn, which is tricky and steep in places. A cool, rarely-visited summit. Trip report.

Traverse from Eichorn  Sucess!

Day 2 of the 2006 Sierra Challenge. A very enjoyable traverse from Clyde Minaret via Eichorn Minaret. Michael had the best scrambling of the three. Trip Report

Route Climbed: Ampitheater Chute, I, 5.6 Date Climbed: Aug 30, 2003

Climbed with Bob, Romain and Michele to memorialize Walter "Pete" Starr Jr., a mountaineer who died while climbing the NW Face Of Michael Minaret on August 1933. We placed a bronze plaque on the gendarme between Eichorn and Michael Chute. Although we did not reach the summit of MM, we felt the goal we set out to accomplished was the "pinnacle" of the entire climb. Endless thanks goes out to those who encouraged us to celebrate this man's life and achievements. A renewed respect for men like Norman Clyde, Jules Eichorn and Walt Starr Jr and for what they achieved in life and in the mountains. My deepest personal thanks goes out to the 'Gilligans' Island' crew. I will NEVER forget this!

Cheers,

Dave
