It does look like an amazing place.

Re: Is this the desertI'm not sure how far the Alvord Desert extends, although I didn't think it included the dune-like area. But what do I know?

You know the summitof Bonanza, and the beautiful
backcountry of Jefferson. The ones
with glaciers on them, and the
sleeping stratavolcanoes. You
know the route to take, when
ascending & descending Kings Peak
in Utah. You know how to properly
HANDLE a Camp Robber!
A lot of people think that desert
areas are void of houses, which
they often ARE ... but they're
NEVER VOID of BEAUTY & SOLITUDE.

Re: You know the summitOK, I confess that I do know something. And you're so right, the desert areas have a beauty of their own. It took me a long time to begin to enjoy the desert, living and recreating as I do so near to the greatest alpine country in the lower 48. But now I realize that all mountains are wonderful and worthy to be visited and enjoyed.
