From Horse Meadow
This was the second stop after Freel. Cold, windy and solid ice on the northern side. Crampons would have been nice. From here over to Job's Peak. Will do this loop hike again.

Freel, Job's, & Job's Sis
Saw a large black bear lumbering down from near the summit as I was coming over from Freel. Did the loop from my car in 4.5 hours.

Oh, why not...
As long as I'm already on top of Freel... Not much of a trail going up; laughed at self and said, "the only way up is UP, so get going...."

Great descent
We hiked up Jobs Sister from the the ridge between Jobs Sister and Freel Peak. Basically no snow on the mountain besides very small patches. None of the patches were near us. We descended very quickly via the east side of Jobs Sister and Freel. Thank God for the sandy slopes. It was like skiing down the mountain!

Dayhike loop
Perfect way to spend a Friday the 13th. Completed an ~8 mile loop from the end of Road 051 to Jobs Peak then traversed to Jobs Sister Peak and then back to the car. 1-2 feet of snow above 9000' with some postholing, but the views and fall colors were phenomenal
We added a quick scramble up to Job's Sister after a great mountain bike ride to Star Lake from Heavenly's Stagecoach Lodge.

From Freel Peak
My first "double bag" with Freel Peak. Found a $1 bill in the register box with instructions to sign & leave at my next peak which I did (White Mtn Peak 08/13).

From Star Lake
Dan and I hiked this peak from Star Lake, where we were camped. The steep ridge from Star Lake still had some snow. It was quite a windy day but clear and beautiful. I enjoyed seeing all the tiny alpine plants. Many of them were blooming. We hiked to Freel Peak's summit from there.
One more time on July 20, 2010 with my husband. Instead of returning to the Armstrong Pass trailhead, I hiked down to our house in South Lake Tahoe. (My husband drove the car back since he had to work.)

Armstrong Pass
I was out in Sacramento for a job interview, and randomly picked this mountain out of a tour book! The views were incredible. I didn't see another living soul the entire morning.

South Slope
No snow on the south side. Very little on northern aspects.
Route Climbed: SE side ascent / west to Freel descent Date Climbed: July 25, 2003
From the end of FS road 051 I headed through the woods and emerged at the saddle between Jobs Peak and Jobs Sister. I decided against Jobs and headed up through the scree to the summit of his sister. I then headed over to Freel (the main reason for the trip) and then cross country back to the car from the saddle between Freel and Jobs Sister encountering a large bear along the way.
Since I was solo, I called my wife from the summit. She asked, "Where are you?" Without thinking I simply responded, "On top of Jobs Sister." There was silence on the other end until I realized what I said and then added emphatically, "That's the name of the peak!!!!"
