From Lake Ave up Castle Canyon
Have passed this one many times on the way to other things. Today decided to check it out. Once on top decided to traverse to the other nearby peak which is southwest of the summit on a easy to follow use trail. Views from the other summit are better than Inspiration Peak itself.

Slippery slope
Got a thorn stuck through my pantleg into my knee on the way up from Inspiration Point... I wonder if the use trail has deteriorated in the past few years? Done with Muir Peak, Easter Rock, and Peak 4910 from Eaton Saddle.

From Sam Merrill TH
Stopped at Echo Mountain and Inspiration Point on the way. Watch out for Poodle Dog Brush on the way from Inspiration Point up to the summit.

i've done this one a whole bunch. my favorite path is to take echo>sam merrill>ip>castle canyon. gets crowded on weekends someimes but its just an overall good hike. 11 miles or so with that loop from lake ave. its also fun in the snow.

From Cobb Estate TH: hit Echo Mtn, Muir Pk, Inspiration Pk, Mt Markham and Mt Lowe. Hiked with Gordon, Coco the Dog, and Sophie the Dog on a very hot April day. Up Castle Canyon/East Lowe trails and down the Mt Lowe railline/West Lowe trails.

Mount Lowe Loop
I hiked up from Lake Ave to tag Muir, Inspiration and Mount Lowe, however it now looks like I climbed the wrong peak for Muir, I climbed peak 4668 ft not peak 4688 ft. duh!

Who Knew?
I have hiked up Castle Canyon many times but never knew there was a sign-in up on that ridge. I also did Muir Peak. Some argument about what is truly Muir Peak in both sign-ins, I called it Muir West to add to the confusion.

Up Castle Canyon
I never tire of Castle Canyon; sometimes I leave the trail and scoot straight up the middle of the canyon for short ways. My first time to Inspiration Peak. Interesting to find in the summit register for Feb. 2000 the name of my friend Patty Rambert, hardcore climber and SP member, who was killed in a climbing accident on Mt. Mendel last May 2006.
